Clarence W. Goth, 59, of 1436 Jenifer St., an employee of the Hoffman Feed Co., 706 Regent St., Was pronounced dead on arrival at a Madison Hospital Tuesday after suffering a heart attack at work.
A native of Riley, Mr. Goth was a Madison resident most of his life. He was formerly president of the Older Adult Klub (OAK) for 14 years a the Madison Community Center. His wife Louise, was formerly treasurer of the OAK, and both have long been leaders in many activities of the group.
Mr. Goth was an avid collector, having accumulated fine collections on U.S. presidents and other types of items. He was a devoted fan of softball in this area.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Paul Damson, Oregon; Mrs. Myron Carpenter, Cottage Grove; and Mrs. William Heath, Portage; six sons, Merlin, DeForest; Sheldon, Black Earth; Ronald, 1135 Emerald St.; Gary, Palo Alto, Calif.; Delmar Scharnhorst, San Francisco; and Howard Martin, Templeton, Calif.; two sisters, Mable Goth, Cross Plains; and Mrs. Adolph Dusek, Stoughton; two brothers, Alvin and Lyman, both of Cross Plains; and 22 grandchildren.
Friends may call at Joyce Funeral Home, 540 W. Washington Ave., after 2 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. William of Memorial Evangelical and Reformed Church officiating. Burial will be in the Verona Cemetery.

Vera B. Carpenter, age 89, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016. She was born on Aug. 12, 1926, in Madison, the daughter of Clarence and Josephine (Kempfer) Goth. Vera married Myron Carpenter on Oct. 11, 1947, in Madison. Vera was employed as a Data Entry Supervisor with the University of Wisconsin-Madison until her retirement. She was a past member of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and currently belonged to the VFW Post No. 7591. Vera had a variety of interests including camping, crocheting and cross-stitch, but mostly treasured time spent with her family.

Vera is survived by her daughters, Linda (Kevin) Witkowski and Tina Carpenter; son, Larry Carpenter (Marjorie); five grandchildren including her special granddaughter and caretaker, Alexis (Todd) Gray, Christopher Fry, Michael (Ashley) Lich, Hannah (Brian) Powell and James Jenks; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Alyssa and Ethan Gray, Sadie and Taylor Fry, and Gavin and Ava Lich; sister, Carol Damson; brothers, Sheldon (Freda) Goth, Ronald Goth, Gary (Claudette) Goth, Howard (Ilene) Martin and Delmar (Rosie) Scharnhorst; and sister-in-law, Angie Goth. MADISON - Merlin C. "Merle" Goth, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, with his family by his side. He was born on Jan. 5, 1928, in Madison, the son of Clarence and Josephine (Kempfer) Goth.

Merle was a veteran of World War II and served with the occupation troops in Korea. He was employed with Oscar Mayer for 33 years. He was married to Lois Carpenter in 1948, and she preceded him in death in 1965. On April 22, 1978, Merle married Angie Statz. He enjoyed volunteering for several organizations in the Dane County Area. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, reading (mostly biographies and autobiographies), listening to most types of music, and watching the stock market.

Merle is survived by his wonderful and caring wife and partner, Angie; two sons, Norm and Scott; four step-children, Ramona Whiteaker, Steve Statz, Linda (James) Williams, and Karen Estep; 12 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Damson and Vera Carpenter; and five brothers, Sheldon (Freda), Ronald (Hazel), Gary (Claudette), Delmar (Rosie), and Howard (Lorraine).

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois; son, Larry; daughter-in-law, Mary; sister, Shirley; and brothers-in-law, Bill Heath and Paul Damson.

Shirley Jean Heath, age 79, of Lewiston Township, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the Columbia County Health Care Center of Wyocena.
Shirley was born on Nov. 21, 1931, in Madison, the daughter of Clarence and Josephine (Kempfer) Goth. She was married to William Heath on June 19, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. Shirley had worked at Badger Ordinance, Weyenberg Shoe Factory and Ray-O-Vac. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lewiston, and had been a member of VFW Auxillary.
Shirley liked to dance, play cards, do crossword puzzles, and do embroidery. After retirement, Shirley and Bill did fretwork. She enjoyed the "lunch bunch" at the Portage Nutrition Site, and socializing with friends.
She is survived by her husband, William; five children, Cathy Voges of Rio, Bill (Deb)Heath of Rio, Jim (Michelle) Heath of Waunakee, Roseann Hayes of Columbia, MO., and Jenifer (John) Schweger of Montello; her brothers and sisters, Carol Damson of Oregon,Wis., Sheldon (Frieda) Goth of Madison, Merlin (Angie) Goth of Madison, Gary (Claudette)of California, Vera Carpenter of Madison, Ronald (Hazel) Goth of Marshall, Delmar (Rosie) Scharnhorst of Missouri, and Howard (Ilene) Martin of Maine; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; other near relatives and many close friends.

Larry Allen Goth, age 58, of Oak Harbor, passed away at Whidbey General Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Goth was born on March 26, 1955, in Madison, WI. He was raised in Madison, and graduated from DeForest High School. He served in the US Army. Larry married Linda Sue Prichard on June 27, 1992, in Kissimmee, FL. The couple remained in Florida until 1996, when they relocated to Whidbey Island. Larry had been employed by Whidbey Furniture from 1997 until 2011. He also worked there briefly in 2012.
Larry had been a member of VFW Post #7392. He was an ardent John Wayne fan, and enjoyed fishing, story telling and motorcycle riding. He was friendly to everybody and known for being kind hearted.
Larry is survived by his wife Linda Goth, at home in Oak Harbor; his father and step-mother Merlin and Evangeline Goth of Madison, WI; and his two brothers, Norman Goth of Monona, WI and Scott Goth of Briggsville, WI.
