Notizen - Rites Held For Christ Harnack. Christ Frederick Harnack, the son of Joachim Harnack and his wife, Caroline Schmidt Harnack, was born March 3, 1881 near Clayton Center. He was baptized and confirmed at an early age at Clayton Center. He moved with his family from Farmersburg to the Postville area in I889, and lived the remainder of his life here. He farmed in the area for most of his life, and for a few years was engaged in Clayton county road maintenance work, Mr. Harnack moved into town on January 20, 1958 and on February 20 was taken to the Postvilie Hospital. He passed away at the Postville Hospital on February 28, 1958 at the age of 76 years, 11 months, and 25 days. He was married to Marie Sophie Emilie Eberling on February 3, 1902. To this union were born two Children; Lloyd, who passed away February 20, 1929, at the age of 17, and Mabel, Mrs. Gerhard Renken of Strawberry Point. Mrs. Harnack passed away on December 16, 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son; two sisters Laura, Mrs. Will Smith of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Anna, Mrs.Henry Mohs of Postville; and two brothers, Fred of Waukon and John of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He Is survived by his daughter, Mabel, Mrs. Gerhard Renken of Strawberry Point; three sisters, Emma, Mrs. William Eberling of Postville, Elizabeth, Mrs. Henry Block of Postville, and Lena, Mrs. John Sebastian of Postville; three brothers, Louis, Joe, and Lester, all Of Postville; three grandchildren; five great- grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Services were conducted at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on Tuesday, March 4, at 2:00 with the Rev. Charles E. Witt officiating. Burial was In The Postville cemetery.
