Funeral Services For Mrs. Harnack On Monday

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday from the Schutte Funeral Home to St. Paul's Church at 2:00 for Mrs. Lena W. Harnack, 69, who passed away at the home of her sister in Waukon on November 21.

Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig, pastor of St. Paul's officiated at the final rites. Interment was in Postville Cemetery.

Mrs. Lena Warnholz Harnack, daughter to John Warnholz and Elizabeth Schultz Warnholz, was born October 28, 1883 in Fayette county, and departed this life after a lingering period of declining health on November 21, 1952, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Martin Halverson at Waukon, age 69 years and 23 days.

Mrs. Harnack was received into active membership in the Lutheran Church in the St. Paul's congregation of Postville on March 27, 1904.

Mrs. Harnack was united in marriage with Fred Harnack of Postville, on October 16, 1906, at West Union. Mr. Harnack preceded her in death, about ten years ago.

Mrs. Harnack was a lifelong resident of Northeast Iowa. She was born in Fayette county. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Harnack established their home in Postville. After a year in town they settled on a farm two miles southeast of Postville, where they remained several years. The next several years were spent on a farm two and one-half miles northeast of Postville and the succeeding several years on a farm south of Luana. The family home was then established on a farm about five miles southeast of Waukon, where they remained for ten years. Ten years ago Mr. and Mrs. Harnack retired and moved to Waukon, which continued to be her home until death came to her.

Left to mourn her passing are: three brothers, Henry Warnholz, of Waukon, Charles Warnholz, of Postville, and John Warnholz, of Floyd, Iowa; five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Woods, of Mason City, Mrs. Emma Crandel, of Lewis, Wisconsin, Edith (Mrs. Herman) Nuehring, of Waterville, Mamie (Mrs. Martin) Halverson, of Waukon, Frieda (Mrs. Floyd) Madison, of Casper Valley, California; as well as other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Harnack was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, one in infancy, and Mrs. John Schlee, and one brother, William Warnholz.
