Hold Funeral Service For W.J.H. Schultz Saturday Afternoon
Funeral services were held here Saturday afternoon in St. Paul's Lutheran church for W. J. H. Schultz, 82, whose passing on we mentioned briefly in last week's Herald. The Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig was in charge of the services and interment was in Postville cemetery.
Mr. Schultz passed away last Wednesday morning at one o'clock at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Aulerich, near Monona, with whom he had been making his home since his wife passed away in 1939, although he came here frequently for brief visits to relatives and
friends.
William John Henry Schultz was born in Grand Meadow township October 5, 1862, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schultz and spent his childhood in that township. He was received into membership of St. Paul's Lutheran church through confirmation April 13, 1878, and has been a member of the congregation ever since.
He was married on March 18, 1880, to Emma Busacker of Luana and to this union five children were born, of whom two, a son, Elvin, and a daughter, Pauline (Mrs. Henry Benjegerdes) as well as Mrs. Schultz, preceded him in death. The surviving children are Arthur and Harvey Schultz of Postville and Mrs. Emil (Amelia) Aulerich of Monona. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Sophia Palas of Chicago, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Mr. Schultz was one of the organizers of the Postville Farmers Cooperative Society and for several years served as its treasurer. He was also active In the Postville canning company, the Turnverein and was actively Interested in school and communlty affairs throughout his lifetime.
Mr. Schultz spent his entire lifetime in this community. Upon their marriage he and his wife established their home on a farm in Post township, which is now owned by his son,
Harvey, Here the family resided until March, 1923, when they moved to Postville and where, in 1936, Mr. and Mrs. Schultz observed their golden wedding anniversary.
