York resident Lucile M. Junge, 94 years of age, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Willow Brook Assisted Living in York, NE. Lucile had moved to Willow Brook two weeks ago. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in York with Pastor Art Phillips officiating. Private burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery, Bradshaw, NE. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Metz Mortuary with the family in attendance from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in York or donor's choice in Lucile's name.
Lucile Marie Junge was born June 23, 1918 near Bradshaw NE to Cleon and Marie (Lake) Lichtenberger. She grew up in the Bradshaw area and graduated from Bradshaw High School in 1936. She attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas before returning to the Lincoln and York areas. Lucile married William J. Hemming of Bradshaw in February 1940 and they farmed west of York until he passed away in September 1964.
During this period, she attended York College and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in 1965 at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Lucile taught school for twelve years in Fairmont, Waco and York. In December 1967, she married Victor E. Junge of York where they continued to farm until he passed away in May 1987.
Lucile enjoyed playing bridge, reading, traveling with the York Fun Club and volunteering with the York Hospital-Hearthstone Auxiliary of which she was given a life membership. She was also involved with the Blood Mobile for over 25 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in York, the York Area Retired Teachers, the American Legion Auxiliary and the B.P.O.E. Does being a past president and an active member for over 63 years.
Lucile is survived by her son, Jim and wife Nita, and her daughter, Patricia; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, an infant daughter, a brother, three sisters, and a son-in-law. She will be missed by her family and friends.
